I apologize for not posting in a while! After returning from Haiti, I spent 6 days in sick bay, causing me to miss my second week of codes and putting me a little behind on work. But now I’m back in the swing of things and back at codes. Haiti was such an amazing trip! We met with so many wonderful organizations and people and it was very inspiring. In the midst of Haiti’s current situation, there are people doing good things with a lot of hope. Then on Friday and Saturday we went to the Haitian Studies Association conference. We were the first high school group to ever present at the conference and it was an honor to be there among such talented experts. We were presenting with people who have devoted most of their academic career and lives to studying Haiti. It was an unforgettable experience that I will treasure forever. I have included some pictures of our trip below for people who didn’t see them on Facebook.
This past week we also had another break from codes for diploma period. We had the Critical Engagement conference while the second years had the Middle Eastern conference. We talked about thinking critically and how this related to UWC and our personal goals and identity. It was very interesting and interactive. I loved the session on body language and non-violent communication that we went to. This next week we have our (hopefully) final tests of the term. I took the math test on Sunday, and will take Sports Science and Econ on Wednesday and Global Politics on Thursday. It’s a busy week coming up but just over two weeks until Christmas break!
